When you think of KOA camping, you might picture tents, RVs, or maybe the classic yellow sign. But just one month ago, KOA Bellefonte added something new: freshly-built cabins that bring comfort to the next level. We had the pleasure of spending two nights in one of these new getaways and here’s why we think they’re perfect for your next Pennsylvania escape. We have a tent, but a cabin is just easier for putting food in the fridge and there is just less to pack. It is more expensive but not as expensive as RV ownership!

A Cabin That Smells Like New Wood (Because It Is)

The light scent of pine wood, clean floors, and bright natural light instantly made it feel clean, cozy, and inviting. The whole space was laid out efficiently with a smart use of every inch. It had everything we needed without feeling cramped. There was even a TV with cable. We don’t have cable at home so it was nice! Air conditioning too!

Let’s talk modern convenience. USB ports and power outlets were everywhere. The bathroom was spotless, with a full-size tub/shower combo. The shower head was low but worked. We even had a mini kitchenette, a ceiling fan, A/C unit, and a TV to unwind in the evenings.

Room to Relax (Inside and Out)

The cabin came with its own outdoor setup: a patio area with table and chairs, just steps from the front porch. It made morning coffee and evening chats easy and enjoyable. We even spotted a few other families relaxing with their pets, just like us. Speaking of which, our dog Ruby settled in immediately on the cozy bed (yes, dogs are welcome!). But there is an extra fee of $25.

Inside, the cabin layout was practical and family-friendly. A large comfy bed for us, space for the kids, and enough room for our dog to nap in peace. The wood-lined walls and vaulted ceilings gave it a warm, spacious feel without sacrificing that charming “tiny cabin” vibe.

Fun Right Outside Your Door

There’s plenty to do at KOA Bellefonte. Just a short walk from our cabin, we found the jump pillow (a hit with the kids!), a bike area, and the inground heated pool. All clean, supervised, and ready for hours of fun. In the evening, we lit a campfire and roasted marshmallows while sharing stories under the stars. KOA staff even had firewood ready to go. It was $9 and burned fast.

The best part? Everything was close. No long walks across campgrounds to get where you wanted to go. And since the cabin was so new and well-built, we actually slept well—quiet, cool, and cozy. There is a hill on the entire camp ground but it makes for nice views.
