Visiting Eisenhower Auditorium in State College: Parking Tips, Seating Guide, and Where to Eat
By Dr. Lisa Rusczyk
If you are planning to see a show at Eisenhower Auditorium at Penn State, a little preparation can make the entire experience smoother. I recently took my two girls, a friend, and her son to see the musical Six, and the night reminded me of how helpful it is to know the best parking options, nearby restaurants, and seating layout before you go.
This guide will help you plan your visit, avoid long lines, and enjoy your time at one of State College’s most popular performance spaces.
Best Parking for Eisenhower Auditorium
One of the biggest challenges for visitors is parking. Many people use the parking tower right beside the auditorium, but it can be difficult to exit after the show. A better choice is the Nittany Lion Inn parking area. The walk is easy, and you avoid the long line of cars leaving the garage. If you want a faster and less stressful exit, park at the inn and walk to the theater.
Where to Eat Near Eisenhower Auditorium
For a quick dinner before a performance, Triplets is a reliable local favorite. If Triplets is crowded, look for the small bar in the same building that serves the same food. It is usually quieter and a great option for families.
If you are looking for more restaurants in State College, you can find many local recommendations in Eat Like a Local, State College, published by me at CZYK Publishing.
Walking From Parking to the Theater
The walk from the Nittany Lion Inn to Eisenhower Auditorium is simple and gives everyone time to settle in before the show. It also makes the return trip easier when the performance ends. You can use google maps to walk over if you need directions.
Tips for Bathrooms, Snacks, and Arrival Time
Arrive early if you want to get a snack or use the bathroom before the performance. The lobby fills quickly before showtime. If the auditorium bathrooms are crowded during intermission, you can cross the street to find restrooms with shorter lines. There is an unattended coat area if you are going in the winter.
Eisenhower Auditorium Seating: What to Know
Eisenhower Auditorium is larger than many visitors expect. The theater seats 2,500 and includes two balconies. The lower level rows hold about 120 seats across. If your seats are near the center, plan on passing many people to reach your seats.
We sat in row 60, which is right in the middle of the lower level. The view was excellent, and we could see the performers clearly. Sound quality can vary based on location. Some guests prefer the front of the mezzanine because the acoustics can feel more balanced in that area. If audio quality matters to you, keep this in mind when selecting tickets.
Enjoy your Show!
Seeing Six with the kids made for a great night out in State College. With the right parking plan, a nearby place to eat, and a good understanding of the seating layout, your visit to Eisenhower Auditorium can be easy and enjoyable.
