Nassau is one of the most popular ports for cruisers. There were six ships in port on Thansgiving Day. Yes we spend our Thanksgiving this year in Nassau. On a recent visit sailing on the MSC Meraviglia, I walked directly from the ship along the dock to Margaritaville. The walk is straightforward and works well for families, groups of friends, and travelers of all ages who want a simple beach day close to the ship.

The Walk from the Dock
Margaritaville is close enough that you can reach it without transportation. The path from the MSC Meraviglia is level and takes only a few minutes with clear signage along the way. For parents with younger children or anyone who prefers to avoid taxis in port, this direct walk is an advantage. If you want to see more of the town you can take the street. But if you have a stroller or wheel chair, I recommend the scenic board walk.
Why Margaritaville Works for Families
The resort area appeals to a wide range of ages. Kids can enjoy the pools, slides, and shallow areas. Adults will find plenty of places to relax with views of the water. Groups can spread out without feeling separated. The atmosphere is active but not overwhelming and it offers a controlled environment that feels suitable for families. I brought my sister with her two kids, my 10 and 14 year old, and my parents with me.
Towels are provided, which means you do not need to carry towels from the ship. This makes the walk easier and keeps your bags lighter. My Mom said you should bring your own float as there are not many in the river. The water is mostly pretty shallow except for the cliff dive. Honestly, I love anywhere there is a place with snorkeling, a lazy river and a beach with clear water!
Food Options: Pricey at the Resort, Affordable Nearby
Food at Margaritaville is on the expensive side. If you want to save money, you have two realistic alternatives.
One option is to walk across the street to McDonald’s. Prices are closer to what you would expect at a tourist area and the service is quick. Another option is to walk back to the ship, eat onboard, and return to Margaritaville afterward. Since it is a short walk, this is more practical here than at many other ports.
How We Bought Day Passes
We purchased our day passes at the gate. The price at the entrance was lower than what we saw online. It is worth checking both the online rate and the gate rate to compare. The process at the entrance was direct and took only a few minutes.
Who This Experience Is Best For
A day at Margaritaville suits families who want a beach and pool environment without travel logistics. It works for friends who want a place to gather and relax near the ship. It is a good fit for multigenerational groups who need level walking paths and easy access to amenities.
If you prefer a quieter beach or more local experiences, you may want to explore other parts of Nassau. For a convenient day close to the dock, Margaritaville is an option that meets many needs.
For cruisers sailing to Nassau, Margaritaville Nassau offers a simple and accessible beach day. The walk is short, towels are provided, and you have flexible food choices. The day pass price varies, so comparing gate and online rates may save you money. If you want a low effort port day with family or friends, this location is worth considering.
I was not paid for this post and I brought my own tickets.
