The first public reading I ever had was in front an audience of over 100 people, and I was just seven years old! I learned to teach, to speak extemporaneously and to use my feelings to engage my listeners and reach the hearts of those listening. As I grew and developed my skills, I always felt that I was speaking not solely to the collective audience as a whole but to my friends, my family and those I really cared about; really sharing what was on my mind with them. I bring that same enthusiasm and feeling into my approach for each of my projects, always striving to give myself to my performance and deliver an extraordinary experience for my audience and clients. Iāve been privileged to use these same skills to share positivity and encouraging messages with thousands of people through my volunteer work. 19 years later, Iāve turned those skills that Iāve honed into a business that has the potential to reach not thousands, but millions of ears. Megan Williams narrated 50 Things to Know About RV Life: With Experience Comes Bravery. I was born in a suburb just north of Cincinnati, Ohio and am proud to still call the area my home! I attended the University of Cincinnati and majored in Spanish and Spanish History, and, ironically, my first job out of college was teaching English to non-native speakers – not using my degree at all! However, my company determined that my “specialty” was pronunciation – breaking down certain English words in a phonetic way so that they are easily mastered in conversation. I loved my time with my ESL students, and learned so much about language. It was here that I really had to “polish up” how I spoke, watching how I enunciated certain words, and so on. Speaking with clarity became a part of my daily routine. I began reading when I was three. My dad worked long hours, and I was home a lot with my mom, so she was my first audience. I have vivid memories of reading her Are You My Mother? and the Amelia Bedelia books, sounding out words and building a story. I still love to read, and try my best to get in about 70-100 books per year. I have no formal voice over training, just what I have learned along the way during my time as an ESL teacher and book lover. My favorite books to narrate are non-fiction titles – I like to try and bring life to the subject matter through my intonation and deliverance. Non-fiction can sometimes get a bad rap as being stuffy or boring, so I’m here to help change that š When I’m not narrating, you can find me spending time with my partner, Armstead; curled up on the couch with my two dogs, Petey and Charlie; or digging into a big warm bowl of Pho, no matter the season. I studied acting and foreign languages in college, graduating with honors and a BA degree from Wesleyan College): also attended broadcasting school five nights a week while holding down a full-time job: and obtained my first class FCC License, one of five women in the world at that time holding one. Living in 7 states and 4 foreign countries (Germany, England, Turkey and Mexico) allowed me to work at a variety of jobs, including as one of the very first women rock djās; radio engineer; model; writer and advertising manager for a national magazine; actor in tv commercials in the US and Mexico; wine ambassador for two Washington wineries; for many years, the teacher of students learning English or foreign languages, as well as serving as a teacher trainer; and the best job of all, mom. Living in so many places really did broaden my education, cultural experiences, world view, empathy and sense of humor! Along the way I also earned an MA degree with honors from Cal State; have continued to take voice-over classes, especially through Such A Voice; and truly enjoy being a lifelong learner. Now retired (but apparently still working!), I have returned to my first loves of acting and reading books–albeit usually sitting in my closet/professional home studio with my rescue puggle, Jackson, at my feet! Tom Hess narrated I have narrated numerous ELAL books.. I am a professional voice artist working in my home-based studio. I have worked in many genres, including audiobooks (with many titles for CZYK Publishing included), video narration, advertising, and podcasts to name a few. I am a content creator, producing and hosting multiple YouTube channels, including a Home Improvement/DIY show and a Home Hospitality show featuring cocktails and home entertaining for family and friends. I have produced and hosted a podcast featuring āEat Like a Localā titles, which highlighted various books in the series. Itās something that I really enjoyed and would like to revisit again. I have always been a creative sort and studied Telecommunications (fancy title for TV/Radio) at Kutztown University in Pennsylvania. After that, I proudly served my country in the US Air Force Reserve for 7 years, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. Prior to my foray into the world of voice and content creation, I have had a long and varied work life. Sadly, life circumstances led me away from my initial path into TV and Radio production. I have always been a bit of a ājack-of -all-tradesā who has basically done every type of job there is. I have worked in food service and hospitality, retail, security, construction, health and fitness, agriculture, and public service, just to name a few. I started my ventures into voice and entertainment through a friendās DJ business. I entertained at bars, weddings, and halls. Not to age myself, but I remember hosting Karaoke when we had to use a laser disc player with discs the size of old-time vinyl records. People didnāt really know about Karaoke back then, so many nights it was me in concert. We were also early pioneers in the field of live trivia contests. These early jobs were the ember that kept burning in me as I continued through my life until I made the leap into voice and content creation. Outside of my creative endeavors, my wife Lisa and I enjoy many activities. It may seem strange, but we really enjoy working around the house and yard doing chores and improvements. We like to travel anywhere warm but enjoy our annual trips to the Bahamas the most. Aside from that, we mostly enjoy hanging around our home, hanging out with family and friends. Ezekiel (Zeke) Sidwell narrated Travel Like A Local-Branson: 50 Travel Tips from a Local. I grew up in a small town just outside of Fort Smith, Arkansas. When I was a little kid, I loved watching the classic Disney cartoons and old Westerns with my grandparents. I knew at a young age that I wanted to be an actor, but I didn’t know the word yet, so I just told my family that I wanted to be the characters that I had seen. Most embarrassingly I told them, “I want to be a Heigh Ho!” I meant one of the Dwarfs from “Snow White.” Now as an adult I realize how… inappropriate that sounds. I had no idea that there was a word for what I wanted to do, I just knew that SOMEONE had to say those lines at one point, and THAT’S what I wanted to do. A few years later, I and several of my friends from school joined together as a team for Destination Imagination, a creative thinking, problem solving challenge. What’s more, it required a short skit while you solved whatever problem it was that year, and that’s where I found my joy. Every year, I would be the spearhead for writing our scripts and always loved getting the chance to perform for all of our classmates. As a team, we made it to the Global Finals every year except one! I also started getting into Community Theatre around Junior High, and that took me to a whole new level. Until then, the biggest musical I had been in was one I wrote myself for D.I. and now I saw all the work that really went into a production. I was hooked. By the time I was in high school, I was doing shows with the Young Actors Guild. That lasted all the way up to when I went to college. I had one emotionally disastrous semester studying Graphic Design and went back to what I love: theatre. I changed my Major and studied Acting and Directing. I also started dabbling in voiceover, and it’s been a passion ever since. Now I’m a working actor, and I’m working towards voice acting full time. You can find me working in person on the “Frisco Silver Dollar Line” train robbery show at Silver Dollar City, and in “The Living Nativity” at Christmastime. Find audiobook on Amazon.
