Sal Nudo Releases New Book, “Champaign-Urbana Greater Than a Tourist.”

CHAMPAIGN, Ill., Oct. 9, 2024 – CZYK Publishing announced today it will release a guidebook about Champaign-Urbana in its popular Greater Than a Tourist series. Written by multi-genre author Sal Nudo, “Champaign-Urbana Greater Than a Tourist” contains a wealth of advice on places to eat and visit in C-U, information on the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and material on the town’s rich tradition of music and media.

The 50 categories in the guidebook include the twin cities’ annual events and many parks and restaurants. Nudo leads the guidebook off with interesting C-U facts about the town’s technological innovations, famous past residents, and metro-agricultural landscape. Art, cultural heritage, family activities, and shopping options are among the guidebook’s many other topics.

“From seeking books on the third-floor nooks and crannies of Jane Addams Book Shop to strolling among the sunflowers in the wide-open field of Clearview Farm, writing the C-U version of Greater Than a Tourist brought me closer to my town and gave me a renewed appreciation of our local businesses and residents,” Nudo writes in the book’s introduction.

At the end of the guidebook, Nudo reveals what he believes is the No. 1 reason a person should visit Champaign-Urbana.

Nudo is a writer and communications professional who has worked at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign for close to 20 years. He has lived in Champaign-Urbana since the late 1970s and loves the town and surrounding area. Nudo lives in Champaign with his wife, Jill, also a longtime C-U resident, and their son, Logan. His parents, Alan and Kassie, live in Champaign as well.

“Champaign-Urbana Greater Than a Tourist” is available in paperback and as an e-book. Visit Amazon or the CZYK Publishing website to purchase the guidebook. Review copies and author interviews are available upon request. Journalists can request an interview with Nudo by emailing snudo73@gmail.com.
